Folks,
Sorry............need to change this. :)
Leo
1) When backups finish, initiate multiple concurrent backups to pick up
backup client databases other than /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images/<master
& media servers>.
2) Follow with NetBackup database backup that includes only
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/images/<master & media servers>.

Folks,
Here's a brain storm. It may be possible to use a tiered approach
with concurrent backups to resolve this problem. When backups complete,
initiate this sort of backup:
1) NetBackup database backup that includes only
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/images/<master & media servers>.
2) At the same time initiate multiple concurrent backups to pick up
all other databases in /images directory.
To recover:
1) Use bprecover to restore master and media servers.
2) Once master and media servers are recovered, then use NetBackup
to recover backup client databases with multiple concurrent jobs.
This prevents overflowing the NetBackup database tape and speeds up
NetBackup database backups and restores.

Brian,
We are facing the same issue and will resolve it (in our case) by
implementing Compaq's Enterprise Volume Manager. Simply a hardware based
solution using a SAN that will snap the NetBackup database from one lun to
another. We will then additionally backup the snapped database.

Our NetBackup database file system is over 100GB. Is their a faster way of
running database backup? WE can only run it once a week because we always
have
backups running. When we do the database backup it takes about 8 to 9 hours
to
complete after it does all the deletions of images etc.. WE are using NBU
3.4
running on Solaris 2.8.
Thanks
Brian
