Too cool. I used to work there. For Jim O'Neill and subsequently Thomas
Mcgee (sp?)

 Hi All

Is anybody here using Sun Storedge L1000 library?
I'm using it with Veritas Netbackup 3.4

Ditto, same setup here.

What i'm asking about is the cleaning of the tape drives in the library.
there is a note about automatic drive cleaning enabeling in the L1000.
Did anyone use it? And if so, How to get a notice that cleaning has been
done ?

Don't know all the answers, but here goes. This this is a rebadged
Quantum/ATL 7100 library. Quantum makes a web based management tool for the
library that is available for download from their website. From the media
manager system administrator's book (veritas) page 280, apparently NB
supports drive cleaning. Using the Java GUI:

    Media and Device Management

        Media Manager

            Device Hosts

                media server (hostname)

Robot 0 (thats the name of mine)

                        Tape Drives

                            1,2,3,4

opening the properties (Change Drive dialog box) has an entry for cleaning
frequency. But nothing for notification. After thinking about it and
fruitlessly searching Veritas's website, one option might be to determine
which daemon is responsible for cleaning (ltid?). Setup a log file for it,
I'm guessing "mkdir /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/ltid" and run cron based
script that searches for a cleaning instance. ????
