Hi,

     I am installing NBU3.4+J0850645+NB_ORA_34_F0788.sgi_64_238818.tar to
locally backup oracle8.1.7(64 bit) on SGI IRIX 6.5.10(64bit).
The speed of file backup and restore is normal, 7Mb/s or so.
RMAN backup and restore is successful.The speed of RMAN backup is about
7Mb/s.
But the speed of RMAN restore is only 280kb/s and it's too slow.

How to improve the speed of RMAN restore?

My enviroment is as following:
rman nocatalog backup and restore.
I have set NET_BUFFER_SZ = 262144
SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS=262144
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS=16
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS_RESTORE=16
There is no difference to use NOSHM or not to use it.

Bptm log looks like:
waiting for empty buffer 1077 times
delay 28434 times.

I knew that one time equals 30ms, so it delays 14 minutes.
Every 280M data was restored on 25 minutes, among which NBU is pending for
14 minutes.

Does I need to change rman catalog backup or is there another parameter for
me to change?

Best Regards and Thanks,
Rick Huang
