All,
We are experiencing problems in our 3.4.1 NBU environment, that while
Veritas support is trying to help resolve, we are not getting a
solution.

What is basically happening is that when our schedules kick off approx
500+ jobs remain in the queued state and become active VERY SLOWLY -
such that the jobs end up timing out with 196 error codes. The only
workaround we have for this problem at this point is to create an empty
length file in /usr/openv/netbackup called DISABLE_COUNTMEDIA. By
creating this file we are told that the inventorying of the scratch tape
pool does not get executed. We are also told that over a period of
time this noninventorying can hurt us.

Configuration:
2- Sun420Rs clustered with VCS and Solaris 2.7 with jumbo patch
106541-14. Node-1 is out NBU master server, NODE-2 ACSLS and a serial
connection to a Powerhorn silo.

1 - 5500 SUN running Solaris 2.6, jumbo patch 105181-28 as the media
server having 12- 9840 SCSI tape drives connected.

tcp_time_wait_interval set to 10000 on both the master and media
servers.

If anyone out there can shed some light on any part of this problem it
will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Leonard Simon
