I would love to see if TapeAlert works for any combination.
Anywho????????

It means there is no good way, including manual, to clean tape drives in
SSO environment. I had ignored Cleaning Requests coming from
tape drives until got low speed and even failed backups and fast
growing number of frozen media. So, DLT is selfcleaned but it
must be cleaned at least sometime.

We had problems with Tape Alert feature on ours STK L700 and DLT7000.
Recently Veritas released a patch for automated tape drive cleaning initiated
by library, so TapeAlert doesn't work for DLT tape drives at least in
STK libraries.

Please check the patch description:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/237385.htm

The following configuration was blessed by STK/Veritas:
NetBackup V 3.4 + 645 + NB_34_1
STK L700 with firmware level 2.30 and AutoClean feature ON
DLT tape drives with firmware 101.

And again it's AutoClean feature, not TapeAlert.
The patch was released 3 month ago, but I still can't test it
as soon as the patch should be applied to all environment.
