For disaster recovery/disk failure we have implemented Jumpstart with =
the MR
system for rapid recovery. The Jumpstart and MR package allows you to =
boot
a server from the network(jumpstart server) and the MR includes =
netbackup
and volume manager. So you are able to boot the server and do a =
restore to
a local disk. It works well for us!
You can find the MR package on the sun web page
http://www.sun.com/blueprints/tools/. Once it is configured, I am sure =
you
will find jumpstart very handy, as you can use it for a lot of things, =
like
solaris upgrades . . .
Of course, this assume a SUN box . . . hope this helps!

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Disaster Recovery Practices
I am trying to find some documentation or
procedures on how
to create bootable cdrom's with netbackup support.
>From reading
the Disaster recovery section in the Netbackup 3.4
admin guide,
it looks like the following steps are needed to
recover a machine:
Assumes a Sun box
1) boot -s cdrom
2) bring up network interface so client can see
master/media server
3) push the netbackup client from the master
server
4) Restore all files to the client
I am trying to streamline the restoration process
but need more detailed
info. How are people recovering from catastrophic
system failures now?
Thanks for any info,
Ryn
