Ken,
Do you know what the steps are to get from 3.4 to 3.4.1 for
Netbackup to get the Win2K logo certified version. We are running 3.4
and have the current patches on but based on your replay below this
sounds like it does not get you the official 3.4.1 release. Is that
true?

For NetBackup DC 3.4, check out PC_Clnt\Win32 folder on the CD-ROM.
There is
a SMS.TXT and setup.iss file there.

For NetBackup DC 3.4.1 (which is Win2K logo certified whereas 3.4 is
not),
check out the PC_Clnt\Win32\Common folder on the CD-ROM. It uses Windows
Installer.

We're playing with them now.

There was just something on this list about client installs for
NT/Win2K.
Clients use an InstallShield type installation that can be preconfigured
with
the setup.iss file. The setup can run silently with "setup.exe -s
-SMS".

Master/Media Servers use the new MSI format for installation. I haven't
worked much with this type yet.

Your choices with NT/Win2K are either to push a package to the machine
with
a
silent install using the above with a product like SMS

or

To run the setup utility and then select the option to install to
multiple
machines (I can't remember exactly what it says, but you'll know it...)
and
list the machines you want this pushed to. You'll have to have rights
on
the
remote machines or it will fail. There is also something in one of the
readme's (readme.nt, readme.txt, install.txt, readme.first, sms.txt... I
don't
remember) about problems with shortcuts on remote machines pointing back
to
the installing machine and the work around you must use if you do it
this
way.

Hi there,

I know there is a script for remote installations for NetBackup 3.4 in
Unix,
but is there also one for Win2K? If so, can anyone tell me what type of
system calls are used to do this and where they are located?

Thanks,

Marty
