Put in ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = ANSI

you need one line for each type of tape you want to let Netbackup overwrite.

I unfroze 40 media yesterday only to find that 37 of them are frozen
again today.  Looking at the problems log it shows entries regarding
'contains ANIS-format data on tape and cannot be used for backup'.

I have ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE in bp.conf as well as ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE
= MTF1.  (That last was suggested by my VAR as a precaution)

What's the deal?
