check this out for a list of the differences

http://www.veritas.com/us/products/nbbs/matrix.html

BS only supports 2 drives, 30 slots, 1 master/media server, no additional
media servers and only 8 clients (plus the master). If you have a dozen
clients, you're already over the limit.

If you started with BS now, definitely upgrade to DC later. I wouldn't buy a
second BS server. You would then have two totally separate environments.
They would not be sharing the same catalogs, classes/schedules, etc.

>From what I've heard they are the same binaries and it's just a licensing
issue. I've also heard that even though the BS server is considerably less
than a DC master/media server, the BS clients actually cost a little more than
the DC clients. If you purchase the additional client pack for BS at a higher
cost/client than the DC clients would cost you, you are already starting to
close the price gap between the two.

I'm a new user, looking for anyone's real world experience:
We just got our CDs and licenses for Business Server, but I'm thinking
about returning it for Data Center before we install it. Has anyone started
with Business Server and uplifted (or whatever they call it) to Data Center?
We have a dozen Sun servers and a 9-tape DLT library (sun L9) with
another to come this summer. Should we start out with a Business Server
setup and move to Data Center (or a second license of Business Server?) when
the second tape library arrives, or just bite the bullet now and start with
Data Center?
I would ask my VAR, but #1 they're slow and #2 I would prefer an actual
user's feedback. many thanks in advance.
