We have tested IDR a fair amount, and it works quite well. Keep the
following in mind
1. After setting up for IDR you must have a status 0 backup. You will know
this is done when you see a file created on the client in
veritas\netbackup\idr\data\clientname.DR
2. Create the disk set following instructions
3. If you change any hardware you must recreate the disk set
4. A gotcha...when doing the IDR restore it will at one point ask you to
pick the client from a list. You should see only the target in the list. You
MUST highlight that name and pick it even though it is the only name in the
list.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] IDR - NT
Is anyone using IDR successfully?
I have a client who is doing some testing on their own,
I haven't been involved until now.
What they have done:
Created 5 IDR diskettes
Done the backups (with collect dr selected from the
class)
when they try the recovery it fails browsing the
server, saying that there are no images for that client
(or something similar).
Their process has been to follow the IDR instructions,
including having the Windows CD available. The only
thing they configured and installed themselves was the
NIC driver (after it brought up the server). Tech
support suggested that's why it failed, when IDR went
to retrieve images for recovery. At that point, I
don't know IDR would care....Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks
david
