First of all Im not the dba, just relaying info.
Does anyone have any experience with BLI,ORACLE and oracle crash
recovery. Here is my situation,
we had crash last week in which the database had to be recovered from
backups.
1) we backed up the redo/archive logs to a alternate location.
2) did a bli recover. we crashed @ 11:00 , I restored to 7:30.
3) tried to bring up oracle, could not control file bad. Reconstructed
control file. brought up fine
4 ) ran logs against running DB and the database was in the same state
as of 7:30 so replaying the logs was worthless.
So what did we do wrong. Nobody Oracle or Veritas can give straight
answer , or even the same answer.
So can someone who has done this enlighten me.
so should this have worked ? Oracle says yes, then no. Veritas has the
same answers.
>From talking to everyone this is what I think we should have done.
1) took the current CONTROL FILE and logs and relocated them.
2) BLI restore to 7:30
3) coppied control file from step 1 and replaced curent control file.
4) brought up db and replayed logs.
Then all is well ?
