Bingo. TRU64 was Dec Unix, back in the 4.x days. If you are on 5.x of
TRU64 you will have to go to NBU 3.4.

OK ... now we're getting somewhere. Does the TRU64 NetBackup client reside
on the CD's I already have for NBU 3.2 or do I have to get something else
from Veritas (or in my case, Sun)? I don't see TRU64 listed on the CD but
I've heard (don't know if it's true) that TRU64 is a derivative of DEC UNIX,
which is on the CD.

Thanks,
Dennis

You need to have a TRU64 NetBackup Client installed. Assuming this is done,
the Oracle agent you have should be installed. It simply installs the
proper NetBackup library, you will still have to link the library and follow
the procedures in the NetBackup Oracle Agent Admin Guide.
Keep in mind that NBU 3.2 may not support the versions of TRU64 and Oracle
you are dealing with.

Can I do it with the Database Extension software I already have (3.2 for
Oracle, Sybase, Informix, DB2 and SAP Oracle) or is there another product I
need to acquire? Which client do I install? I don't see a specific client
listed on the CD for TRU64. Is there some documentation that points to the
installation and customization of the Oracle DB Extension on a TRU64
platform?

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,
This is a supported config. I have implemented this several times.

I've just been posed with the question of being able to do hot backups of an
Oracle 8 database on a Compaq TRU-64 UNIX platform and I was wondering if
this is possible. I've looked through the docs for the database extensions
(NBU 3.2) and don't find TRU-64 listed as a valid platform. Any advice????

NBU Platform Description:

Sun E450 / Solaris 2.6
NBU 3.2 GA

Dennis
