We have encountered the same problem but our hardware/OS environment is
completely different from yours, so I'm pretty sure, now, that it's a
NetBackup (Veritas) problem.

We are using:

Sun E3000 running Solaris 2.6 (current patch level) as the Master
Server/Robot controller
NetBackup 3.2GA (w/Jumbo patch J0820363)
L3500 Tape Library with 7 DLT7000 drives (all firmware patches are
current)
