Hi,

Were seeing media labels overwritten in a SAN environment with multiple
media servers running SSO and multiple
drives. Were running netbackup 3.2. Each media server can see all the
drives, hence access to drives is arbitrated by SSO.
The media servers are Solaris 2.6/7. As required by SSO, SCSI reservation is
disabled in the Solaris st driver.

The theory to date is the drives are issued a scsi target reset (from
somewhere, potentially different application) during or after
a backup, causing the drive to rewind the tape. Next time a backup starts or
during the current backup, the media server keeps writing data (ignoring the
reset, sense key 0x6 and an ASC of 0x29), hence overwriting the label.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? This is happening too frequent in
our environment to be a one off.

Regards
