During an exchange restore, the exchange server's name does not have to be
the same (just the "organization" field); however there are conflicts if a
newly restored exchange server is in the same network as the original. When
backing a machine off the network, I think they mean off the "public
network". If your NetBackup server has multiple adapters, you can
restore/backup machines through a "private networks" (just edit /etc/hosts).
We restore the "store" to a private network on an exchange server with a dlt
tape drive.

I'm not an 'exchange person' either, but I just finished installing the
Veritas exchange agent on our management's main NT server, and I wonder
about what you say here:
How can you restore anything to a machine that is off the network with
NetBackup?
