I'm also dealing with this issue right now. At this point we're getting
ready to swap out the internal scsi controller on the E450 (also running
Solaris 2.6). In our situation, we had a tape drive die, after which we
started seeing timeouts on all devices on the bus. Occasionally after
power cycling the server, everything would come back ok, only to start
experiencing the timeouts after a half hour or so of usage. Although at
this point, the timeouts start occuring during the boot phase of the
system.
Checking on sunsolve, there seem to be numerous people experiencing these
timeouts on E450's. One person claimed they started after applying y2k
patches. We've applied all of the latest maintenance, including 105580-016
and the problems still persist. I should know by next week whether or not
swapping the internal controller fixes the problem.
