To save time and effort reading through endless NetBackup manuals I thought
I would put a question to some people who may have the answers:
So, We are running NetBackup 3.4 on an NT4 server which is attached to a
StorageTek L180 tape library, with 5 DLT7000's.
This in turn is attached to a clustered pair of NetApp 760's.

The problem we are having is that NetBackup has this habit of filling tapes
up.
We have say 2 different backup jobs running concurrently. When the first
backup is finished, the last tape used is only about a third full, so when
the next job starts, it pulls this tape in again and fills it up with data,
before pulling in another tape to continue with the backup.

Because of the tape management system we operate, we like to keep tapes
from different backup jobs, seperate. I know this is not efficient use of
the tapes, but that is the way we work.

Is there a way of stopping NetBackup from filling tapes up from different
backup jobs ?

Thanks for your help

Jon Dodman
