There are a number or example scripts installes in the
NBU_INSTALLPATH/openv/netbackup/dbext/db_ext/oracle/rman

or something like that, I didn't come up with the path, I just deal with it
=)

Ah, now I am starting to understand; we actually do have the Oracle
extension, I
did not realize there was a way to purge logs with it. I am currently in
the
process of configuring the hot backups as well, and while I have the Sys.
Admin
guide for Oracle on Unix, (cryptic as it is) what would really be helpul
is
examples of this sort of thing in action...anybody got any?

Thanks,

Tony

The error your recieving is that you don't have a user Archive schedule
available for that client on the master. Other ways to do it is to use the
Oracle extension and plug into rman and have it do the log backup and purge.

Can anyone offer any information on archinvg Oracle archive logs? The dba
here
would like me to check every hour for logs in the specified directory and
send
them to tape, then delelte them. I had thought that this is the purpose of
Archiving, so I tried it with bparchive with a test file:

bparchive /tmp/archive_file

Expecting the file to be backed up to tape, then deleted, but I get the
error:

(198) no active classes contain schedules of the requested type for this
client.

Am I approaching this the correct way? If bparchive does not function this
way,
is there another way I can accomplish this? If anyone would be willing to
share
some examples I would be grateful,

Thanks,

Tony
