To do a complete inventory, move the tapes from the inport to slots and use
the bar codes, do the following

Vmupdate -rn x -rt xxx -empty_ie -use_barcode_rules

The output from vmupdate -help follows:

       [-use_seed] [-mp media_id_prefix] [-no_sides]
       [-no_format_optical] [-overwrite_labels] [-f new_media_id_file]

                Subject: [Veritas-bu] vmupdate

Is anyone using the vmupdate command in a script to do an
inventory update
                of the library?

Has anyone been able to "document" the parameters you need
to pass it in
                order to do the inventory?

Is there another method of updating the media database when
tapes are
                injected/ejected?

                Cheers,

                Mike
