I recently had some files deleted in the /usr filesystem. When I restored the
/usr filesystem to an alternate directory some of the files that were in /usr
had not been backed up, ie the files were not deleted from /usr but not
restored. I have an AIX4.3.1 master with Netbackup 3.2 with the 363 jumbo.
When I upgraded to 3.2 I used the built in tool to upgrade my clients. The
client that had the incomplete backup had been at AIX 4.3.1 then upgraded to AIX
4.3.3. This upgrade took place two days before parts of /usr were deleted. A
full backup had occured before the upgrade, and two incrementals occured after
the upgrade but before parts of /usr were deleted. I deleted the /usr/openv
directory on my client, reinstalled NB, and then ran a full backup. The files
that had been in /usr but not in the restore showed up as backed up in the
restore gui. The gui showed only one copy of the file, and that copy after the
last full backup.
Thanks,
Lisa Garris
