Hi Rob,
Just a couple of quick notes.
Solaris
1) On a unix master you can "push" all the client installs/updates/patches
to all unix platform machines but not to NT/95/98.
2) Solaris is a much older and more stable OS to work with.
3) The rest of the Veritas Suite of products all integrate well on a Solaris
platform. This is very beneficial is you are going to run HSM with vxfs
and vxvm or Vaulting or Telebackup or FW/Cluster.
4) I have found trouble shooting and performance tuning much easier on
Solaris or other Unix platforms than on NT. ( this might just be personal
preference though ) On NT everything is an edit of a registry entry and reboot.
5) Device compatibility and configuration on Solaris is superior to NT.

NT
1) You can administer OTM from a gui.

As you can see I'm "a little bit" pro Solaris but depending on your
specific environment there can be a fit for an NT Master or Slave.
Talk with your local Veritas rep and he should be able to give you
a hand puting into scope what would best suite your needs.

hope this helps,
RF
