This afternoon, I was logged into my DPA 5.5 server working on a small script
that copies a file that DPA creates to a shared Windows CIFS disk volume.

The script works fine.

Unfortunately, while I was writing the script, I inadvertently started the DPA
installer. The DPA installer said it was checking for Java. I killed the
installer only a second or two after I started it, but now, DPA will not work.
I cannot get the DPA GUI to start. Shutting down DPA and rebooting did not
help.

My DPA server is a small installation. I only use it to report on Avamar
backups and issue alerts for backup failures. I do have a temporary license
installed for NetWorker, but I haven't created any reports or alerts for it, I
am just feeling my way around the NetWorker functionality.

All the DPA processes are running on its Linux server, but the web site doesn't
respond.

I was working on this issue with someone from EMC until a few minutes ago. We
tried restoring the iAnywhere database from last night's Avamar backup, but
that didn't fix the problem. I am waiting now for second level support to
contact me on this issue, but I figured I would try asking here if anyone else
has any ideas on what to look for.

I checked /opt/dpa/etc and nothing has changed in it as far as config files are
concerned, nor can I find any changes in /etc.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please let me know.

This is not a good way for me to start the Memorial Day weekend.
