I think you can really do cross platform recoveries on the same filer due the 
same Linux based OS. I remember that i have briefly tested this years ago. Of 
cours this applies exclusively to the data - the access rights will be lost.

I doubt that NDMP to standard OS file transfers are possible at all (with 
NetWorker). However, this might be possible is you use DSA backups for the NDMP 
data.
