I would suggest a dedicated storage node but there is a additional cost
involved for licensing. You can break up the saveset into smaller chunks but
again if Network latency is the culprit then it does not do much good.
If you think that the network is the not the issue then I would suggest
you to check the health of the partitions that the data resides on.

I do about 2.5TB to disk, and then clone to tape, in about 26 hours. This is
over 8G Fiber Connected LTO-4 tape drives, and the AFTD device (disk
space) is also over 8G fiber.
