Hi - I have a question regarding the time it takes to backup Exchange
vs. Restoring it...

We have a Windows based 7.4.4 server backing up two 2007 Exchange
servers using Exchange Module (Original file name: nsrxchsv_ese.exe\n
Version: 5.1.3.358_QuickFix\n).

It only takes about an hour to do a full backup of one of the larger
Information stores (MSEXCH:IS= 96GB total reported in savegroup
completion). We had to restore this last week and it took over 10.5
hours to recover 48 GB back to one Exchange server .....

Why did this take so long ???
There are not a lot of streams being multiplexed to the tape when the
backup is being written (maybe 4 to 6 sessions to an LTO4 tape drive).
EMC does not seem to have any answer for us ... they say it should not
take that long, but it certainly does (seems a lot longer when you are
waiting for it to complete).

Thanks,

Paul
