Mat,

1. Usually this DSN writes to offsite disk over a SAN. Monthly we clone a
saveset to the backupserver which is connected to a tape library.

2. DSN.txt is using mminfo to list all saveset/cloneids on the old adv_file
volume mounted on the DSN.
3. The client definition for Storage Nodes has the DSN has itself, an
offsite SN and the backup server in that order. Clone Storage Node and
Recover Storage Node are blank.

As I write this I think I have figured it out. The Media Pool is not a
backup clone pool. I am trying to copying from a backup pool to a backup
pool.

I think it may be the volume restrictions that are causing the permission
issues.

Hey Ray,

I'm just guessing here, but from the sounds of it Networker is trying to
clone the data from a different source rather than the file device on the
DSN 1. do you clone the data off this DSN onto a different storage node?
2. the saveset list in file /tmp/DSN1.txt is it just a list of SSID's or
SSID/CloneID where CloneID is the cloneID of the saveset on the file device
on the DNS 3. have a look at the client definition for the DSN ann on the
Globals2 tab have a look at the fields Storage Node (should be itself given
it is a DSN) and the Clone Storage Node and Recovery Storage node should be
blank ...

Hope this helps

Mat,

You were right. I added the user@DSN to the administrators group and it
started the staging but came back with the following error:

Starting migration operation...
  ...from storage node: DSN1
39077:nsrstage: error, There was an attempt to force the use of a recover
volume to the storage node DSN1, but the needed tape is not allowed to be
mounted there. Please check the client recover storage node and storage
node affinity lists (if applicable), the server recover storage node and
storage node affinity lists, and the volume restrictions.

5777:nsrstage: Cannot open nsrstage session with backupserver
5882:nsrstage: Failed to clone any save sets

As stated before I am trying to migrate between pools on the same Dedicated
Storage Node.

Hey Ray,

I am guessing what you are trying to do is run the nsrstage command from the
DSN, what is probably the problem is that the user that you are running the
command as user@DSN_server is not an administrator of networker (try adding
the user@DSN_server to the administrators group in Networker)

Subject: [Networker] Migrating savesets between pools on DSN

Hello,

I have a Dedicated Storage Node that has disk volumes in two different
pools. I would like to stage the savesets in one pool to the other pool.
When I attempt it I get the following error:

# nsrstage -s backupserver -v -b "TARGETPOOL" -J DSN1 -m -S -f /tmp/DSN1.txt

Obtaining media database information on server backup01

Parsing save set id(s)

Migrating the following save sets (ids):

Starting migration operation...

  ...from storage node: DSN1

39078:nsrstage: SYSTEM error: Permission denied.

5777:nsrstage: Cannot open nsrstage session with backupserver

I can't figure out what permissions need to be set. Any ideas? Is it
possible to migrate within a DSN?
