How is this option #3 configured / setup. Do you have to install some
kind of client software on the NetApp ?
Do you create a client on the Networker server for it ?

We have a NetApp and simply back it up via the clients using the NetApp
space which has been working well (so far).

The folks that sold it to use did not seem to know anything about
different backup options for it..

3) Use NDMP protocol (requires license from Legato) and backup over the
net. Savesets are multiplexed within regular savestreams and can go into
the same pools/tapes as normal backups as well as D2D2T architechtures.
The actual data is still the NetApp dump but it is encapsulated within a
Legato savestream data protocol. This is what we do, and has worked
well.
