We are planning an upgrade to Networker to version 7.6.2 while continuing to
use VCB for a while and would like to be able to test VADP backups without
having to upgrade all of our virtual clients, so our VCB proxy host will be
staying at version 7.6.1.
We had thought that we could setup another proxy host (and storage node) with
Networker 7.6.2 and use that as the test proxy host for VADP. The question
is...can you create a "VADP" client in Networker 7.6.2 while still using your
existing VCB clients, or is that just not possible?
We were hoping to configure and test VADP without trying to go "big bang" and
hope it just works.
One thing we did find in testing the upgrade to Networker 7.6.2 is that the
Virtualization piece is now mandatory. We were not using that feature in the
current version (7.5.3.2), but in order to define a proxy host in 7.6.2, it has
to be "discovered" by the Virtualization Auto Detection so that the proxy host
is "selectable" from the drop down list (whereas before in earlier versions,
proxy host could be typed in).
Thanks,
Kevin
