Hi,

I have two questions on the 'nsrim -X' command. From what I understand, it runs once a day, and that's fine. But, what exactly does it do? I read the man page, and I'm still not really clear. Specifically, if I remove a client index as:

nsrck -YR client
Remove NSR client resource from NMC
cd /nsr/index
rm -rf client

Then what happens if I then run: nsrim -c server1 -X

1. What will this do, assuming I run it after removing the client index? Is it recommended? Is it moot?

The man page for nsrim says:

"The nsrim program is used to manage the NetWorker online file and media indexes."

But if the client index is gone, how would it be able to do anything? Seems somewhat moot at that point?

2. On the other hand, if the index is not removed, what does the command do?

NOTE: We're assuming that I've not gone through and removed the media database entries for the client using nsrmm because maybe I want to keep those in case I ever need to do a save set recover at some point in the future.

Thanks.

George
