I haven't been checking the listserv lately so forgive me if this is a repeat
question.

We are currently on 7.5.3.2 and will be upgrading to 7.6.2. We currently are
using VMWare VCB backups for our virtuals. We have a proxy server for the VCB
backups of the virtuals (the server where VMWare takes the servers and breaks
them down into files, where Networker then backs up the files from)

In reading the docs for Networker 7.6.2 and the chance to VADP, it states that
version 7.6.2 will still support VCB backups with a 7.6.1 proxy node. It
appears you can continue using VCB as long as you don't upgrade the proxy
storage node to 7.6.2. If you want to "convert" to using VADP on the proxy
storage node, you have to run a process that will convert your clients to the
new VDAP process. I assume that that process make it impossible to "go back"
to using VCB once you do that.

Has anyone using VBC already done the upgrade to 7.6.2 and done the VADP
"conversion"? Just wondering how that was done..if you still continued to use
VCB with a 7.6.1 proxy storage node for a while or just went "whole hog" and
did the conversion at the same time. Looking for any insights before we bite
the bullet.

Are you re-installing the OS, or just installing a new version of NW? When you
uninstall NW,
it doesn't delete the /nsr directory, so all the history remains. I've never
had a problem
with uninstalling the previous version of NW and then installing the new
version. In July, I
upgraded from 7.5.4 to 7.6.2 (on 64-bit Linux) by uninstalling the older
version and installing
the newer version.
