Hi Len,
There are release notes along the way that mention a drastic database change
that requires an interim step.
We moved our /nsr from rhel3 7.2 to rhel 5 via tar and installed 7.4 straight
away on the new OS. This tested after we reconfigured devices so we upgraded
to 7.6 from 7.4 in place on this new machine. Our goal was to avoid installing
7.2 packages on rhel5 which seemed muck things up.
Seems to be working fine maybe this workflow would work for solaris.

Subject: [Networker] Upgrade from 7.2 to 7.6.x - Can it be done in one step?
Sent: Jun 27, 2011 1:57 PM
We've migrated the vast majority of our backup environment off Networker
but I've been informed that we won't be allowed, as we previously thought,
to migrate one server and its five clients. That one is still running 7.2
on Solaris 10. Very much unsupported, we know, and it's indeed slated for
upgrade when we get time (yeah, right... take a number :-), but for now
it's out of sight, out of mind on 7.2 and running without complaint. This
will also be new server hardware, so at least that makes it a bit easier -
We can tar up /nsr to tape and lay it back down on the new server, saving
a lot of reconfig work while still keeping the old server in production.
Q: Can we go from 7.2 to 7.6.1 in one fell swoop, or will we have to stop
at (say?) 7.4.x along the way? Any gotchas?
Thanks.
