Networker version : 7.5.2.5
OS: Windows 2008 R2

I am working on an escalated issue with Cap the problem has been ongoing for 
three weeks., I am hoping you can help 

Problem description:

Client winprfscl03.internal.westminster.gov.uk has issues  with saveset 
R:\WINPRIFFLS01-02FC\DATA  - backup completes as successful 

how ever after verifying the files and folders in nsrinfo it turns out that we 
are missing some folders and files

The following folders do not appear in the nsrinfo output 

D_Westminster Education

EUC_ADBackup

EUC_DHCPBackup

food

D_WEdICT

 

These are all DFS folders. The data is all local to the host. 

 

 

However when we check the incremental backups the DFS folders are backed up 

 

The saveset size is 1.8 TB

 

 

Action 1  Performed:

As a work around last week I completed an ad hoc backup of the above four 
folders, with their absolute path names as per below

Results

 

Backup was successful so on that basis decided to split the folder into 31 
savesets so that we could perform backups with the absolute path names, so that 
no folders were missed out.

The group is still running however again its missing some of the files as it 
says it can not be opened 

 

For example with the line highlighted turqoise worked well when the full backup

However this weekend after specifying full path

Troubleshooting steps: 

 

Support have asked us about whether there are DFS folders on this client. There 
are but they are not remote. 

Support have asked us to upgrade to NW 7.6.1.5.build.467 

as they include NW125991 - files under mount point are not backing up 

NW121085 - Windows: skipping any mount point in the path of any writers of the 
system

 

We were also asked to perform the following actions: 

 

 

Under General tab there is an option called Backup renamed directories. Check 
that box.

Change the backup command >> save -xL

 

We have not done this yet: 

 

as 

1. The directory when specified as a full path does not backup up the file. 

2. The direcotry has not been renamed.
