If the new server could be demoted to a storage node of the old server (or the other way round) and they will belong to the same datazone, then this would be a trivial clone operation (just make sure to get your pools right). After you finish the clone operation you can retire the old server and library.

My idea of such a migration (assuming that the new server should replace the new one and not co-exist):

. Make the new server a storage node of the old server.
 . Clone the old data.
. Backup new data to the new server.
. Once done, copy over the indexes to the new server and reverse their roles as server and storage node.
 . Retire the old server.

You need to plan carefully and make sure you know how to promote/demote storage nodes to servers, but that should be it.

Hi all

We have a Quantum / ATL M1800 Tape Library which is rapidly approaching
its end of life.____There are 4 SDLT600 drives in the M1800 library.

We are looking to clone or copy the savesets from the SDLT600 tapes to a
Sun SL500 Tape Library with four LTO-4 and two LTO-5 tape drives and
wondering what would be the best way to do this.

The two tape libraries are attached to separate servers -- could the
saveset clone or copy be kicked off in some way across the two servers?I
guess the libraries could not be 'physically' connected directly owing
to compatibility issues.

Shooting in the dark a bit here -- any comments/thoughts greatfully
appreciated!

Thanks
