Thanks for the info. It's still failing....any thoughts on this lot?
It looks like you're still missing the -M flag in the nsrndmp_save command
line; it's still trying to back up to a locally-connected (to the Celerra)
device. The -M flag will make it send the data stream over the network back to
the networker server (or storage node).

celerra1-backup -g TestNick -l full -LL -W 78 -N /root_vdm_1/iso_fs1
/root_vdm_1/iso_fs1
This should have -M after the '-T dump' argument.

Try adding -M to the end of that command to use the NDMP DSA functionality,
i.e.:
nsrndmp_save -T dump -M
If you want to use a storage node instead of the primary Networker server, use:
nsrndmp_save -T dump -M -P
storagenode.example.com<http://storagenode.example.com>
(replace storagenode.example.com<http://storagenode.example.com> with your
storage node's hostname, and make sure the same storage node is set in the
Storage Nodes field)
This should get you what you want; and you probably know this already, but the
backups will still be NDMP format, so you need to restore them to the Celerra
in order to make sense of the backup data.

Currently our celerra backups are secured to tape via a vbb based backup over
the SAN.
Is it possible to backup a celerra over the network to a storage node and
associated AFTD?
We do this simply with Netapp using dump, but nsrndmp_save -T dump on the
celerra fails moaning about a lack of device.
The EMC document 'Configuring NDMP backups on the Celerra' is confusing, it
suggests as far as I can tell that the only way to B2D is to create a VTLU,
which comprises of disk already owned by the celerrra.
