We've been running a FalconStor VTL and SIR (Single Instance Repository) for over 2 years, with excellent results. To Networker, it's presented as a standard SCSI Jukebox.

I find Networker much easier to manage with this model, as data is going to "tape" rather than AFTD. I also prefer FalconStor's post process deduplication model, ensuring we don't have any bottle necks during the backup window. There are some excellent replication tools incorporated in the system. Unlike many appliances, where the deduplicated data repository is not shared among devices, FalconStor's repository is presented globally, and shared among multiple systems for excellent scalability.

Hello NetWorker list. I am keen on your advice regarding deduplication devices for NetWorker backup environments. I am all into doing with DataDomain, both VTL and NFS ways. However, not to blindfold myself to much - are there any competitors, which could compare with DataDomain today?

I would appreciate any suggestions on other devices with similar or near functionality as DataDomain.
