At a Northeast User Group meeting back in 2007 there was a presentation
of "NetWorker Tips, Tricks and Techniques" that addressed this question.
The EMC presenter suggested using the "first" and "last" parameters in
an mminfo query:
mminfo -av -r 'first,last,volume,fragflags' -q ssid=<ssid_number>
first = The offset of the first byte of the save set contained within
the volume
last = Last byte of the save set contained within the volume
When a save set spans multiple volumes, (last+1) for an earlier volume
will equal (first) for the next.
Example (lifted from the presentation):
mminfo -av -r 'first,last,name,savetime,volume,fragflags' -q
ssid=1752513537

Subject: Determining the order of a saveset across multiple volumes
Suppose I have a saveset that spans 4 tapes. Fragflags would show me "h"
for begining of the set, and "t" for the tail end of the set", and "m"
for everything in the middle. But how can I tell which tape is #2 in the
sequence, and which is #3? I may have to re-scan old tapes that span 4
tapes; the tapes are in the media database, but not the file indexes, so
I will need to re-scan them. How do I construct an mminfo query to tell
me the order of written sequence, so that I can re-scan them in the
proper order?
