Thanks for your reply.
When you say "Do you mean only clone the fragments of the saveset that
are on the volume you want to purge, but leave the fragments on other
volumes un-cloned?"
What I am trying to say is not cloning the data or save sets which
happen to be on the volume I want to purge but rather moving that data
to a different volume (including saveset fragments that are included)
and then rebuilding or re-indexing the backup software so it knows the
new location of the savesets previously on the purged volume.
I was wondering if this is possible?
Thanks
Paul

I have several volumes created under a pool on a ZFS file system
mapped onto devices.
What I am asking is - is it possible to move the entire contents of one
volume to another volume ?
Clone the contents of the volume and then purge the original savesets,
which is pretty much what the "nsrstage" command does.
Also can the data in the volume be moved in such a way as to preserve
any save sets which are spread across the volume to be moved? And if
so how?
I'm not certain what you're asking for here. Do you mean only clone the
fragments of the saveset that are on the volume you want to purge, but
leave the fragments on other volumes un-cloned? I don't think that's
possible, at least using NetWorker commands.
