In regard to: Re: [Networker] How to restore backup if its configuration...:

Unfortunately the machine name already deleted is the same name as the new
machine since migrating from Solaris to Linux. Is there a way to read the
data on the old Solaris machine (moe.calpoly.edu), and restore it to
different location on Linux machine (moe.calpoly.edu)? Thanks.............

Have you tried it? There's at least a possibility that it will "just
work". If you tried it, what happened? Any errors?

After you deleted the Solaris client named moe.calpoly.edu, when you
were creating the new Linux client with the same name, did you get any
warning from the GUI, possibly something including the phrase "clientid"?

By any chance, do you happen to know what the clientid was for the old
Solaris server?

I'm asking these questions because if you're going to recreate a client,
either as a new architecture or even with a different hostname, you'll
have the easiest time recovering data from the old client if you make
certain that the new client you create has the exact same clientid as the
old client you deleted from NetWorker.

Since you apparently still have backups for the old client, it is possible
to find the clientid of the old client, but it might not even be
necessary. That's why I asked the first questions, about what you've
tried and what the results were.

Hello,

just create again the client in the NMC (with default values), in order to
let him being known by the server.

Then restore your data as usually.

Networker guru,

I already delete the Linux client from the backup configuration, is
there a
way to restore a client from NMC or CLI? Thanks..........
