Yes, we do it all the time.

Subject: [Networker] Can a LTO-4 drive really read a LTO-2 tape ??
Has anyone used an LTO-4 tape drive to read an LTO-2 tape ??
We're getting ready to upgrade our tape technology, and have been told
that this is possible. I've read it in the literature, but has anyone
actually done this so we can be sure we can restore data from our LTO-2
tapes once we have an LTO-4 library in place....
I would feel better if I could verify this is possible....
Thanks...
