I will be very interested to hear of your experiences with this as we are in
the process of upgrading our backup systems and Datadomain is one of the
options.

We should have this in place by the end of this week. I will post what
we find out/know after that - We got the DD630 model with 12TB, (No
fiber hba option or VTL), so it will (likely?) be set up for NW disk
backup & de-dupe across the network.. (We shall see - we also had to
purchase a 10TB disk backup license for NW, so I'm assuming the DD guy
knows what he is doing in terms of NW integration).
