[Networker] Cloning performance - Quantum VTL to LTO4 tape
2010-01-08 22:45:20
I am cloning from a Quantum DXI7500 to three LTO4 drives using three instances
of nsrclone running across two storage nodes but my throughput is averaging
approximately 40-MBPS per drive.
Networker Console and the DXI7500 console show regular bursts of 120-MBPS and
the speed fluctuates between 30-MBPS up to 120-MBPS, but the DXI console shows
10-20 second delays with 0-MBPS being read and the virtual tape drive reports
its status as moving, I am assuming because its repositioning to the beginning
of the next saveset?
So my question is what sort of speeds are others seeing for cloning to LTO4
drives from a VTL? And is the 10-20 second delay I am seeing due to nsrclone
repositioning the virtual tape drive to the beginning of the next saveset?
Any tips on improving cloning throughput greatly appreciated, thanks.
