Hello Joey,
If you want to run the backups on the active node, then you can use
whichever you like. NME is generally much easier to install and configure.
If you want to run the backups on the passive node -- which is much of the
appeal of CCR, in that it gets the overhead of the backup off of your
production Exchange server -- then you will need to use NMM, because
Microsoft has dropped support of their legacy "Streaming API" that NME used,
in favor of their VSS snapshot backup technology.
Many folks on this list have had a hard time getting NMM up and running, and
the NetWorker support people weren't really ready at first, but things are
smoother now, the support people are now ready. NMM has many more options,
as it can do a great many more things, and is harder to get going at first.
Hope this helps,
_Scott

Subject: [Networker] Backup Exchange 2007 cluster NMM or NME
Hi there.
I'm wondering if I should configure the backup of an Exchange 2007 CCR
cluster with the conventional NetWorker exchange client or wether I should
use the NMM client.
Does it have any benefits to use the NMM over the NME? Anyone?
Is there any particular reason NOT to use the old method with NME?
Joey
