Re: [Networker] network edition vs power edition

Based on our experiences, the only benefit of having the Power Edition
today is the ability to cluster the backupserver. If you don't need it,
you can live with the Network edition.
We run sometimes in limitations on Network Edition when you want to
setup more than 16 devices (AFTD or FTD counts too!) on that server.
Tests showed, when you apply any(!) kind of additional storagenode
license, you will be able to use additional 16 devices, independently
where you install them. It means, for example having only the
backupserver, you can add 16 devices more to that server, without having
to install another physical storagenode in your environment.
Try it out. Apply an additional eval license (eg. dedicated storagenode
for Windows license, this would be the cheapest one), and add another 16
devices to see it works.

Everything else is the same.
Power Edition
Parralel datastreams per Networker Server 64 ( also 32 per SN )
Number of Devices 32 per Server
and/or SN
Cluster Support server/Client
Network Edition
Parralel datastreams per Networker Server 32 ( also 32 per SN )
Number of Devices 16 per Server
and/or SN
Cluster Support Client Only
If you have two storage nodes, and you're not backing anything up to
the server itself (e.g., the server doesn't have a tape library) then
would that be 32+32=64 total? If you're are backing up data to the
primary server then would that be 32+32+32=96? Or is the case that the
total parallel data streams to the snode combination never exceed the
32 limit?

The Power Edition gives you the ability to stream 64 concurrent backups
versus the 32 you can get with the Networker edition. This is the
version I am running and it is Networker 7.4.3 Power Edition.

Hi,
I don't think the power edition is still available.
I was thinking that one of the main purposes of the power edition was to
be installed on a Microsoft Cluster.
The previous versions of the network editon was only supported as
installation on each node of the cluster. You needed power edition to
install networker on the virtual server of the cluster.
Kind regards
Eric

Hello;
The manual speak about "number of simultaneous parallel data
streams".
The difference between the two editions is that number.
What does this feature mean? , any example?, when/why is need the
power edition?
Thanks alot, and excuse me my English.
