I don't think it's always necessary for all messages in the logs to be
immediately relevant to day to day use within an environment. Sometimes I
believe it's important that they're there from a programmer/debugging/support
perspective.
I agree that debugging messages can be very important -- nearly every
script or program I've ever written has lots of debugging messages. The
difference is that they are only output when I'm actually debugging!
nsrim supports a "-v" option -- that's when I would expect to see messages
like these appear. Not as part of standard operation.
Those particular messages after all are readily removable when
grepping/parsing a log file, and thus shouldn't present anything more than a
mild inconvenience to administrators.
Since it looks like I'm one of the very few people that are annoyed by
them, I suppose that's what I'll have to do.
