I can't find any other mention in the archives of people discussing
this
issue.
We're getting megabytes of these nsrim messages and I've become
pretty
irritated with them. I do have calls open with EMC about these
messages
and other new spew from 7.4.x, but I'm hoping others here have some
insight into the messages.
Specifically
- Can anyone explain *why* we're seeing these messages? Because we
have
lots and lots of fulls that have not been cloned? Or is it
something
else that I'm just not understanding.
I don't think it is anything to do with cloning. I think it just means
that each of those save sets only have one full backup in the cycle,
which would be typical for clients with a fairly short retention
period.
I believe these messages come into play as a result of changes to
NetWorker to deal with pool based retention policies.
I don't think it's always necessary for all messages in the logs to be
immediately relevant to day to day use within an environment.
Sometimes I believe it's important that they're there from a
programmer/debugging/support perspective.
Those particular messages after all are readily removable when
grepping/parsing a log file, and thus shouldn't present anything more
than a mild inconvenience to administrators.
Cheers,
Preston.
