Hi.
As far as I know I need to manually manage the daemon.raw log file
since it
will grow to be very big otherwise.
To do that I have stopped the networker service, made a copy of the
file
and then emty the content.
Is there a way to let networker do this automatically, but
preferrably
without stopping the networker service?
At current versions it does this anyway. You don't need to do
anything.
I can't say I'm aware of any version of NetWorker that automatically
rotates the daemon.raw (or previously, daemon.log) file. In my
experience, it's always been the case that this file is not closed off
until NetWorker is shutdown. A quick check against a couple of my lab
servers running 7.4.4 and 7.5.1 show every new log starts with initial
daemon startup, which seems to confirm this is still the case. (Happy
to be proven wrong...)
FWIW, there's no need to copy the file before you restart; NetWorker
automatically renames the file to:
daemon_YYMMDD_HHMMSS.raw
When it has to start a new log file.
Cheers,
Preston.
