I am trying to understand the simplest things about the output of the command inquire. What does it mean? What I need is the basic to undestand what info this outoput is providing. In particular, what is [email protected]:ADIC Scalar 24 310A|Autochanger (Jukebox), \\.\Changer0
                                          S/N: ADIC_1_C00027529
I could undestand that two drivers are enough, but this 3rd line in connection with Ultrium jukebox what does it mean?

Maybe some site for beginners will be helpfull?

The ADIC Scalar 24 ([email protected]) is the control port for the tape library. (You could think of it as the robot head, although that's not completely correct.)

Effectively, it's the SCSI control port that NetWorker will "talk" to the Jukebox on.

So you've got effectively 3 elements in your jukebox:

[email protected] = \\.\Tape0
[email protected] = \\.\Tape1
[email protected] = Library control port

There's a few sites around that have useful information for people using NetWorker - for instance, as a starting point you may find some information on my blog (see link in signature). PowerLink can be another good resource, though it mostly contains just the EMC documentation, which while fine, is substantial and therefore a bit more work to get through. Curtis Preston maintains some resources as well at Backup Central, and this list has a searchable archive.

Cheers,

Preston.
