Subject: RE: [Networker] Upgrading

Sorry forgot to mention that, we are running 1 backup server and 2
storage nodes (all windows 2003) on dell hardware with xeon 3GHz and 3GB ram on all servers, backing up around 100 servers. The ADIC Scalar 100
is also supported.

Before you do the NetWorker upgrade, make sure Windows 2003 is updated and patched on all three boxes. In your environment, it probably would be best
at this point to go right to 7.5.1.

Disregarding any 7.5.x vs 7.4.4 discussion, also make sure you:

(a) Have your update enablers authorised and ready

(b) Do a proper, full index backup (e.g., "savegrp -O -l full groupName" for a group that has all clients in it); copying indices is all well and good, but EMC don't recommend it in their documentation and thus if you want a good fall-back scenario that is _supported_ you should do the full index backup.

(c) Ensure that you upgrade the storage nodes and the backup server together. It is no longer the case that having mixed versions for the server and storage node(s) could be recommended.

Cheers,

Preston.
