We've seen this on Server 2003 / XP clients that don't have any SP installed.  
If that not possible you should disable VSS for that client.

Check "system properties" - "advanced" - "system startup, system failure..." 
and make sure it's NOT set to "automatically restart".

Maybe your networker client crashes while starting a backup, and the systems 
are set to reboot on crash
