All-
We're running NetWorker 7.4.2 on RHEL 5.3 on i686.
One of our campus SLA backup clients is interested in adding a Linux
(I believe it's CentOS 5.2, so essentially RHEL on i686 as well) server
to the list of systems we back up for them.
The issue is that this client gets a large amount of its storage via
direct attach to what is (I think) an Apple Xsan device. That apparently
means that the CentOS server is using a proprietary filesystem called
CVFS, which comes from StorNext. Based on my extremely limited
understanding of CVFS, it's a shared/clustered filesystem with an external
metadata server.
The NetWorker software compatibility guide obviously doesn't list CVFS
as a supported option (though I was suprised to find that another
clustered filesystem for Linux, GFS, is on the list these days).
Is anyone using NetWorker to back up a configuration like this? I realize
it will not be a supported configuration by EMC, but I'm just wondering if
it can even be made to work.
Thanks,
Tim
